when passions are not running high...

...trust in the name of Jesus to carry you through. I have wondered, "Was it the right decision? Why don't I feel joy or any other sort of emotion after I made the decision? Where has the emotional aspect gone?" Maybe this was God's way of teaching me to make more rational decisions, or His way of challenging me to trust Him to a greater extent. The more I think about my life the more God shows me that it's not about me at all. It's not important what I feel at the moment or what I want. It's not about my dreams and ambitions, my gut feelings, my hopes and wonders. I subconsciously seek glory for myself every day, and it always leads me down a slippery slope to pride. How can I lose myself every day in a world that asks me to dream big and save the world? I don't know. Maybe that is someone's calling--which is great--but it's not mine.

He reminds me once again how I should live my life: "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." 1 Thes 4:11-12. Please teach me, O Lord, what it means to live to be forgotten.
